All of our luxury holiday properties are now dog friendly!
To celebrate dog-friendly travel, we’ve put together this list of our favourite Norfolk beaches to visit with your 4-legged friend. It’ll be the best holiday your dog has ever been on!
1. Holkham Beach – dog friendly holidays
20 mins from Barsham Barns
A visit to this iconic sandy beach is a Norfolk holiday rite of passage for people and dogs alike!
Here you’ll also find the lookout cafe where there are yummy snacks (including locally-made dog biscuits!). There are also plenty of bowls of water for thirsty dogs.
2. Burnham Overy Staithe – dog friendly beach
We love this beach walk for a number of reasons. There’s a winding path along the salt marsh that takes around 20 minutes before you arrive at the beach. This means the actual beach tends to be much less busy during peak times than other beaches!
It is a beautiful walk with spectacular skies throughout the year. At low tide you can stop for a swim in ‘dead mans hole’ … a natural swimming pool adored by locals.
3. Wells-next-the-Sea – great for dogs and kids!
The best Norfolk beach that’s both dog friendly and child friendly! The first 200 yards of the beach is a ‘dog free zone’ for sand castles and children, but beyond that they’re free to run and play as they please.
The Wells light railway train is a great treat for kids if you’re arriving from Wells Car Park (Where there is also the Wells Beach Cafe!). We also love to walk from Holkham to Wells through the pine forest along the coastline and take the Coasthopper back at the end of the day (after fish and chips on wells quay, of course!).
4. Stiffkey Saltmarshes – great for nature lovers!
Owned by the National Trust, the Stiffkey Saltmarshes car park has space for just 25 cars – so it’s an ideal place to visit when the summer crowds have calmed down or at the end of a hot day.
This area is the perfect spot who enjoys birdwatching on their dog walk, with vast skies and plenty of wildlife.
Dogs are now welcome in all of our self-catering holiday cottages and barns, with each barn sleeping from 4 to 14 people. We hope you have an amazing dog-friendly holiday!
