Measures we have taken in light of recent COVID-19 outbreak and advice from HMG and our industry association:
Information Folders
We’ve removed all of the usual information we provide in Guest Information folders as these created a risk of contamination as they contain multiple plastic pages. We have therefore provided you with a digitised version of the Welcome Folder which contains all of the information formerly in the barn. Please refer to this for any information relating to the barn, local attractions, general information.
This will be sent to you via email.
Operating Instructions
We have also had to remove the folder with the operating instructions for the various electrical devices: cooker, oven, television etc. Information will be in the digital Welcome Folder and you can also use the brand and model version to find an operating manual online. This is how we generally source instructions when we have a problem.
Cleaning & Disinfecting
We’ve provided soap for hand washing, some hand sanitiser, disposable gloves and face masks if you have not brought your own or have run out.
We have provided you with a spray bottle of virucidal disinfectant called Virabact (view the COSHH data sheet here). The virucidal we are using to clean the barn is Peritab, recommended by the WHO (view the Peritab data sheet PDF). Please check to make sure you are not allergic to either of these products.
Removal of some equipment
In order to cut down on the risk of infection, we have had to remove some of what we normally provide. If you have been before you may notice a small difference but if you haven’t been before then I don’t think you’d be aware. The barns are still very well equipped!
China and cutlery
We have left spares of everything but there is not a full second set. Dishwashers will have to be put on after every meal.
We have removed hair dryers as we expect everyone who wants one has their own.
We have removed food processors from the kitchen as there are so many individual bits to them that would have all had to be washed whether they had been used or not.
Cushions & Throws
We have removed some of the cushions on the sofas and beds. We have removed the throws on the beds.
Ornaments, books, DVDs, games
We have removed some ornaments, books, DVDs and games. These present too much of a risk of possible contamination and we have been advised to remove them.
There are still some ornaments at high level which we’ve left as we didn’t want to strip the barns bare!
Please remember that these are for decoration purposes only and not to be used.
First Aid Kit
We have removed the first aid kit so suggest you bring your own supply of at least plasters. We have a first aid kit in the office in case of emergencies.
What we need you to do
Arrival & Departure Times
Please adhere to our arrival time of not before 5pm and departure by 9:30am at the latest. We need all of the time to complete the necessary tasks.
We respectfully suggest that you pack the night before in order to be able to leave on time. Please leave the dishwasher running.
Cleaning & General Hygiene
We ask that you take extra measures to be more vigilant about hygiene during your stay, both for the safety of you, your guests and our staff who will be coming in to clean after your departure. We’d be very grateful if you could leave the barn in a clean and tidy condition.
Please empty all bathroom bins and kitchen bins into the main rubbish bins in the central courtyard.
On the morning of your departure please open all of the windows, including bedrooms, (unless absolutely pouring with rain!) and leave open when you leave. Please make sure the stays are tightened so that the windows don’t bang if it’s windy.
Dishwasher
Please fill the dishwasher and set the programme running before you leave. You do not need to empty it as we are leaving this for the next guests to unload. If anyone touches the contents they will have to be re-washed!
Bedding & Towels – On Departure
We have been advised to ask you to strip your beds and put the bed linen in the laundry bags provided: pillowcases, sheets, towels and bathmats all to be put in bags together, duvet covers in a separate bag. We will leave the bags and they will be labelled “Duvet Covers Only” and “General Linen & Towels”.
This is to protect our staff from any possible contamination while changing the beds when the virus can be thrown up in the air. We would be HUGELY grateful if you could do this for us.
You do not need to remove the pillow protectors or mattress covers, just the bedlinen. The protectors will be changed before the beds are re-made.
Thank you very much for your consideration in helping us to keep both our guests and our staff, safe during this unsettling time.
